As part of this year’s Infant Mental Health Awareness Week, and our core message to include infants in children and young people’s mental health, The Parent-Infant Foundation has written a letter to Nadine Dorries, Minister for Mental Health. The letter highlights findings of our new research, which has shown that there are big gaps in service provision and workforce development for babies and young children. The impacts of the gaps can be lifelong for the babies who need help the most.

We have asked the Minister for an opportunity to meet and are calling on her and the Government to take steps to ensure there are more mental health services available to support babies and their families, mainly through funding, accountability and workforce development. We look forward to her response and to working with her to make sure that infants are included in children and young people’s mental health so that babies have the very best start in life.
