Ministers respond to our Start for Life concerns
Shortly after the election, we wrote to new Ministers highlighting the urgent need for clarity over the future of the Start for Life programme.
Bridget Phillipson, the Secretary of State for Education, understood our ‘concerns about the future funding of the Start for Life and Family Hubs programme.’
Wes Streeting, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, acknowledged that “there is strong evidence that the 1001 days from conception to the age of two set the foundations for our cognitive, emotional and physical development. Investment in this period improves outcomes across the life course, from early childhood through to health and educational outcomes later in life.”
We are following up with them to arrange a meeting with members of the First 1001 Days Movement’s steering group.
