The Parent Infant Foundation has today joined with twelve other charities to call on the Chancellor to use the Spending Review to allocate vital funding for the very youngest children.

The charities have written a letter to the  Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, outlining the worrying numbers of babies and young children being exposed to stress, trauma and adversity as a result of measures to slow the spread of COVID19.  The charities warn that if this harm is not addressed it could have a significant impact on the wellbeing and development of young children for many years to come.

The charities argue that the Government’s response to COVID-19 has included support for many vulnerable groups in society, but not the youngest. There is a narrowing window of opportunity now to address the impact of the pandemic on the most vulnerable young children.
