The role of the doula is evidence based. Studies show that expectant mothers who are matched with a doula have better birth outcomes, are four times less likely to have low-birth-weight babies, are two times less likely to experience birth complications, and are significantly more likely to initiate breastfeeding. Doulas help to make the transition to parenthood a positive one and all families deserve support as they bring new life into the world.

People who train with us leave the initial preparation course fully supported, they join a community and have access to our mentoring and companionship programmes. They can go on to set up a sustainable business and provide life changing support to families.

We understand that some of the families you support may be financially unable to fund this training for themselves. We are always open to payment plans and also provide some assisted and scholarship places.

The Developing Doulas initial doula preparation course has taught over 900 people how to become a doula since 2007. Our unique follow on Doula Development course, ‘Doulavation’ ensures continued help and support as you set up your business.

We are approved by Doula UK and offer courses as an online option or in person.
