Parent-Infant Foundation welcomes new Chair of Trustees
16 April 2024
The Parent-Infant Foundation is very pleased to welcome its new Chair of Trustees, Claire Wright.
Claire is stepping into the role to take over from outgoing Chair, Nick Wilkie, who has been in the position since 2020.
Having been on the board of trustees at the Foundation for over six years, Claire already understands the Foundation’s vision and brings a wealth of experience in charity governance as well expertise and insights from her career of 33 years as a solicitor and former partner at Allen & Overy LLP.
Claire starts the Chair of Trustees role at an important time for the Foundation as the charity is in the early stages of its new strategy, with an ambitious aim to help increase the number of specialised parent-infant relationship teams tenfold in the next five years.
The Foundation’s vision is of a UK in which all parents and carers are supported to create sensitive, nurturing relationships with their babies to lay the foundation for lifelong mental and physical health. Claire has previously been involved with several programmes to help support children and young people from challenged backgrounds and can bring this passion into supporting the Foundation’s vision for babies and their families too.
Speaking about her appointment Claire said:
“I am delighted to be taking on the role of Chair of Trustees at the Parent-Infant Foundation. I must first extend huge thanks to our outgoing chair, Nick Wilkie, for the passion and commitment he has put into his time with the charity. The Foundation has been making steady growth, achieving some significant success whilst Nick was at the helm, and we all wish him the best of luck with his next projects.
“I’m hitting the ground running by meeting the specialised parent-infant relationship teams who are doing incredible work with babies and their families. I hope this will help me to continue to improve my understanding of the sector, the key issues facing families and all the Foundation is trying to achieve and enable me to guide the board of trustees and our excellent staff team to continue to succeed and grow further.”
