The first stage of the NHS 10-Year Health Plan consultation has now closed. We hope many of you found time to respond and help us speak up for babies so that they are included in the government’s plans for the health service.  In our response on behalf of the Foundation, we urged the NHS to prioritise infant mental health and set measurable targets to meet the needs of more vulnerable babies.  Also we called for increased investment in parent-infant relationship teams and in Start for Life services. Read our response here.

This is just the first stage of the consultation and engagement process, and there are still ways to get involved. NHS England are keen to hear from local communities and service users. They have created ‘Workshop in a Box’ materials to help organisations to engage with their communities and report back with these further insights.

This could be an excellent way of giving parents and carers an opportunity to have their say too. If you are involved with a parent and carer panel, or think this would be suitable for a group session you run with parents and carers, please do check out these materials. There is a guide on how to run a workshop on the community engagement page. For example, there are template slides to support discussion of how the NHS could focus more on prevention and supporting mental health.

Feedback from a workshop session can be submitted until Friday 14th February at 5pm.

Thank you for helping us speak up for babies!
