Babies In Our Minds (BIOM)

Babies In Our Minds (BIOM) is a 3-day interactive online training in building specialist knowledge and skills to support the parent-infant relationship.

BIOM enables practitioners to be the voice of the baby/child. BIOM contributes to more effective assessment, safeguarding and therapeutic intervention with parents and infants to promote secure infant attachment and parental mentalization.


Rachel Pardoe (Child Psychotherapist) and Dr. Fionnuala Stuart (Child Psychiatrist) are two highly experienced parent-infant specialists with years’ of experience in CAMHS and perinatal services.

BIOM includes:

  • IMH key concepts and information from research (neuroscience, attachment, parental attunement & mentalization, babies/children’s communication through play, intergenerational transmission)
  • Guidance on detailed observation and recording of parent-infant interaction
  • In-depth group discussion linking theory to practice
  • Key steps in parent-infant interventions
  • Reflective practice – participants bring their cases for small group discussion

Suitable for practitioners of all levels of experience in health visiting, perinatal mental health, parent-infant services, CAMHS, social care and early years. Delivered to groups of 20-25 participants. Joint commissioning welcome.
