F1001D Movement members join the Minister at the APPG on Babies Parliamentary Showcase
Several of the First 1001 Days Movement Members were delighted to brave June’s record-breaking heatwave and exhibit at the APPG on Babies’ inaugural Showcase, which was a celebration of Best Start Family Hubs and the Healthy Babies programme.
The Institute of Health Visiting, Parent-Infant Foundation, Home-Start UK, The Association of Video Interaction Guidance UK, Blackpool Better Start Blackpool, the LGA, Triple P and the Critical First 1001 Days Foundation talked to parliamentarians about the work they do with families.
Guest speakers – Public Health Minister Sharon Hodgson MP and the Government’s Best Start champion Sue Robb OBE – shared their vision for ensuring every baby gets the best start in life. The Minister also welcomed Sir Desmond Swayne’s Infants, Parents and Carers Bill, and expressed hope that it will take a form the Government can support.
Thanks to The Brazelton Centre, attendees also had the pleasure of meeting a seven week-old baby and learning how even the very youngest babies communicate through reactions, movements and responses.
